Deck and Engine Personnel training center (DEPTC) Barishal, started its journey in the year 2012, on about six acres of land near the locality named “Band Road” situated on the west bank of Kirtonkhola River and the center of Barisal City. Before the journey started of DEPTC Barishal it was a Marine workshop under the supervision of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA). To meet the growing demand of skilled Inland ship personnel in Inland maritime sector, BIWTA decided to build its second maritime training institute in Barishal and as continuance of which BIWTA Barishal was established in the year 2012.
